Memory takes me walking where I keep
Secret things, more than diamonds mean to me
I believe, I believe in your good times
Take me back to your side
I believe in the lost boys
Let's hear it for the lost boys
A different place, a different time
Yeah the lost boys
Let me live with the lost boys
Oh how I wish you were still mine
So long since I laughed until I cried
More than that, I will love you till I die
I relive, I relive every reckless moment
Forever yours, always mine
I believe, I believe, I believe in the next time
Running back to your side
I believe in the lost boys
Let's hear it for the lost boys
A different place, a different time
Yeah the lost boys
Let me live with the lost boys
Oh how I wish you were still mine
Lost boys
Let's hear it for the lost boys
Ooh, lost boys
Going back to the lost boys
Going back what will I find?

Sherrie:
The chords and melody 'arrived' on the acoustic guitar one Saturday
morning and I was so excited I ran into the kitchen and played and sang it
to Duke who was eating his cornflakes. I knew I had the germ of a great
song...it was moving us both even before we'd discussed what the concept
was going to be...I felt that it wanted to be about people you've loved
and lost and the pain you can feel about it when you remember the good
times you had that you can never have again. When we recorded it John made
the middle section really tortured by adding some discords, which I loved.
Duke:
The melody stirred memories of a great friend who was killed in a car
crash. The Lost Boys are a loved and deeply missed part of your past. It
can even be about your own childhood. Lots of people love this song and
they've each got their own personal story that it fits. Our own
'Lost Boys' are people we played with in previous bands. By the spookiest
of coincidences 'I believe in the next time' has come true. We are always
being told that this song is special - and it's special to us that a song
we wrote about people we loved can touch others so deeply too. That is
what songwriting is all about.
