Ain't it something
Something like you've never known
To be a part of it
When the big one comes
Ain't it something perfect
Perfectly impossible
Being a miracle
'Cos we're the lucky ones
And we say Yeah
We're on our way
Having the time of our lives
Making it happen
And we make it
Doing like our daddy done
In an immortal run
'cross the generations
If you're into living
Living in a time machine
It must be in your genes
If you know what I mean
And we say Yeah
We're on our way
Having the time of our lives
Making it happen
You could say we're timeless
Come from lines as far as the sun
Yeah you and me are endlessly
The million-winning ones

Sherrie: Duke came up with a basic chord
turnaround. I made up a tune to go over it and it led me into the chorus
which I changed the chords for. It was such an 'up' song we wanted to make
it something of an anthem complete with singalong chant. The middle 8 is
one of my favourites, it's so simple yet so different to anything I've
ever heard in pop. I think it was inspired from my classical piano studies
as a child.
Duke: When she handed over this inspired anthemic tune there was only
one thing I could do with it and that was dedicate it to the entire human
race and our awesome ability to overcome all odds and reproduce our little
snippets of DNA down through the eons and on into infinity. I have trouble
getting my head round the coincidences that caused us to exist at all and
my view of immortality is encapsulated in the concept of a never-ending
gene pool! When I get too deep and intense I just have a good time singing
'na na na' and having sex cos it's about that too.
Sherrie: Yeah and it only has four chords. |
